Mr Ong Tze Boon, Chairman and Architect of Ong&Ong Limited and Board Member of The Old Parliament House Ltd, helped raise more than S$50,000 for the charity concert ChildAid 2007 during his ‘Almost 40’ Birthday Celebration for Charity at the newly re-opened Thumper situated at Goodwood Park Hotel on 25 October!

Of the full amount that was raised, Mr Ong singularly donated S$39,000 with the rest of the contributions coming from sales proceeds of the two unique drinks “Boo(n)ster Shooter” and “Boonie Loonie” that he has blended just for the party, as well as individual donations from his friends and associates including the following:

Mr. Stephen Johnson of M/s Asiawerks Global Investment
Mr. Philip Tan of M/s Seager Pte Ltd

Mr. Tan Kay Sing of M/s Builders Shop Pte Ltd
Mr. Michael Chia of M/s Technolite (S) Pte Ltd
Ms. Jen Ong of M/s Anthem Group
Mr Wong Shew Yee

Said Mr Ong Tze Boon, “I don’t often celebrate my birthday because there are too many years to keep track of. But this year, I wanted to do something different to help the under-privileged children. The arts has played a big part in my life. While I live my daily professional life as a practicing architect, I have through my childhood years casually dabbled with music playing the piano and guitar.”

During the party, Mr Ong presented a mock cheque to Mr Peter Khoo, Organising Chairman of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, and Mr Alvin Tay, Chairman of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, and guests were entertained by a musical jam session by Thumper’s resident band Raw Energy, the Untouchables & Jackson Twins, and guest artists such as Singapore’s stage queen Alia and more.

All contributions from Mr Ong’s 39th birthday party will go toward supporting ChildAid 2007 which will be on 27 & 28 November at the University Cultural Centre. Performed by Singapore’s top musicians and performing talents under 19 years of age, the concert’s proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

About the Beneficiaries:

The Business Times Budding Artists Fund enables children between the ages of five to 12 years distanced by socio-economic circumstances to pursue their aspirations to develop artistic talents in music, dance, theatre and visual arts.

The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund makes available pocket money for children from low-income families. The aim is to ease the financial burden faced by parents when providing for their children's education.
